Pre-Treatment Instructions
To ensure the safest and most effective IPL experience, please follow these steps carefully:
Avoid Sun Exposure or Artificial Tanning (14 Days Prior)
UV exposure increases the risk of hyperpigmentation and irritation. Protect your skin with daily SPF and avoid tanning beds and self-tanners.
Discontinue Retinoids & Hydroquinone (5 Days Prior)
These products increase skin sensitivity and the likelihood of adverse reactions. Discontinue use 5 days before your treatment.
Shave the Area (Within 24 Hours of Treatment)
If your treatment area includes hair (such as legs), shave it within 24 hours prior to your session. Do not wax, tweeze, or use hair removal creams.
Post-Treatment Expectations
Redness & Warmth (24–48 Hours)
It’s common for the treated area to feel like a mild sunburn. Redness and warmth usually subside within 1 to 2 days.
Mild Swelling
Especially in more delicate areas (like the face), you may notice swelling that resolves within a day or two.
Dryness, Crusting, or Texture Changes
Treated vessels may darken or form small scabs or crusts that flake off naturally. Your skin may also feel tight or dry. This is part of the healing process and varies by skin type.
Post-Treatment Aftercare
Support your healing and maximize your results by following these aftercare instructions:
Sun Protection is Essential
Continue avoiding direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, even when indoors. Hats and sunglasses provide extra protection outdoors.
Cool if Needed
Apply a cool compress to soothe lingering heat or redness.
Avoid for at Least 3–5 Days
To prevent irritation and promote healing, avoid:
- Hot showers, baths, or saunas.
- Intense workouts or sweating
- Active Skincare (retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, exfoliants)
- Scrubbing, scratching, or picking at the treated area.
Use Gentle Skincare
Stick to non-irritating cleansers and apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer 2–3 times daily or as needed. Keeping your skin hydrated promotes optimal recovery.
