Pre-Treatment Instructions
7 Days Before Your Appointment:
- Discontinue use of retinol, tretinoin, glycolic/salicylic acid, or other exfoliating products on the area to be treated.
- Avoid harsh facial treatments (peels, microdermabrasion, lasers) in the treatment area.
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil) unless prescribed.
3–5 Days Before:
- Do not wax, thread, or use depilatory creams on or near the area to be treated
- Keep skin hydrated with a gentle moisturizer.
24 Hours Before:
- Avoid makeup, lotion, or sunscreen on the treatment area.
- No alcohol or caffeine, which may increase skin sensitivity.
- Avoid sun exposure or tanning, we cannot treat sunburned skin.
- Come with clean skin, free of products or self-tanner.
Please Let Us Know If:
- You are pregnant or nursing.
- You’ve had recent Botox, filler, or other treatments near the area.
- You have a history of cold sores (especially for lip or mouth areas).
Post-Treatment Expectations
- Treated areas may appear red, slightly swollen, or sensitive.
- Some spots may darken, crust, or form a scab—this is completely normal
- Avoid touching or picking the treated area
Post-Treatment Aftercare
- After the treatment, you may cleanse with a gentle cleanser and fingertips. Do NOT use a washcloth or facial cleansing brush of any kind. Pat area dry.
Use ZO Skin sunscreen and reapply after every two hours of sun exposure to protect new skin. - The treated areas will darken and crust. Crusts will begin to fall off in about 14 days.
- Do NOT use any physical or chemical exfoliation (retinol, etc) products.
- Do NOT pick or scratch the area. After the crust has fallen off, you may continue with the ZO Skin home regimen your provider has recommended. Treated areas may be pink or red at first. If needed, spots may be retreated in a month.
